Report: How Intelligent Automation is Reshaping Business in India

More than half of Indian enterprises will deploy intelligent automation systems in the next few years, according to a recent report by the International Data Corporation (IDC).

In partnership with Automation Anywhere , the study found that intelligent automation (AI) is at the core of building an organization’s resilience in the face of unexpected challenges such as the current global pandemic. Many implications, such as lean software development and the trend towards remote work, will remain permanent. In fact, 66% of Indian organizations plan to expand their work-from-home initiatives. The report, aptly titled ‘ Building Business Resiliency: Automating the Path to the Future of Business ’, identifies four benefits of automation that Indian businesses will continue to explore post-pandemic:

Business resilience
Is an organization positioning automation as the central cog in the machine that powers its entire business? Automation is more than moving a one-off task from a human to a machine—it’s a system-wide framework. A company that’s ready to weather the next storm uses automation to build agility and improve collaboration, even when employees are working from their kitchen counters or other workspaces at home. The study found that 57% of companies believe automation and RPA are key to business continuity.

Efficiency and scalability
Tech-savvy businesses see automation as one of the oil and gas mailing list key drivers of efficiency at scale. Companies that have experienced the benefits of automation during the pandemic are not looking back – they are expected to expand it to other areas of their operations. Analysts predict that the adoption of robotic process automation, one of the core technologies of AI, will grow by $44 billion by 2030. Indian organizations are not taking their time – “Building Business Resiliency” reveals that 40% of them plan to scale up RPA in the coming year alone.

Democratization of technology
In most industries, the quality of the online customer experience is the hallmark of a successful modern product or service. This represents an unmanageable burden for traditional IT departments. Instead, companies are spreading the workload by introducing low-code tools that replace the need for in-depth programming knowledge. These new training opportunities are a compelling bonus for stellar employees, with 48% citing them as key motivators.

An equal percentage cites robot collaboration as one of the main benefits of automation in the workplace, allowing employees to focus on higher-value tasks. Future-proofing an organization will require expanding the pools of robots, or “digital colleagues,” that take on repetitive and routine tasks.
