Will you join us to the city of the future?

Post by pappu888 »

New city models are needed, capable of facing new challenges. What is clear is that the cities of the future, also known as “smart cities”, only have one option: to be sustainable and innovative.

Did you know that according to the UN, there are currently 33 megacities on the planet with more than 10 million inhabitants? In 2030, the number will reach 43. Faced with such evolution, we will only have to adapt so as not to lose the quality of life that we all deserve. And this is precisely the starting point of smart cities: finding a solution to a global challenge. The good news is that their creation is also an opportunity to advance in terms of sustainability.

But a smart city is not only built from scratch. It can also be the board members email lists result of the transformation of a current city. How? By taking advantage of infrastructure and improving its weaknesses, such as pollution or congestion, replacing public lighting with LED lights or promoting sustainable mobility for all citizens.

Technology is another priority. Without it, nothing makes sense. Do you know the Smart Dubai 2021 project ? With this initiative, the city will become a global technology hub. For example, high-speed Wi-Fi will reach the entire Emirate and all infrastructure (water, waste distribution, buildings, traffic lights, etc.) will be connected to the Internet. The result? More efficient services and fewer CO2 emissions.

Where are the cities of the future today?
To find out, we would have to travel to Singapore, Helsinki and Zurich. These cities have taken the top spots in the 2020 Smart Cities Index. The Institute for Management Development, in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), has been commissioned to compile the 2020 Smart Cities Index , in a year in which the role of technology in the COVID-19 era has been taken into account .

In parallel, the city of Shanghai (China) has also been chosen as Smart City of 2020 at Smart City Live , the 2020 digital edition of Smart City Expo World Congress, dedicated to smart cities. Its plan for full 5G coverage has been a highlight.

When choosing the cities of the future, key parameters are taken into account: governance, urban planning, public management, environment, technology, international projection, social cohesion, mobility, transport, human capital and economy.

From now on, it will be normal to move towards smart cities, although rather than a final destination, it is a long journey that we will make together. Some ways of doing this are by using energy that is committed to the planet; promoting renewable energies, such as our servisolar solar panels , or moving in a sustainable way .
