Sustainable mobility at the state level

Post by pappu888 »

What now? The future of the European Union depends on everyone
One of the most eagerly awaited events of European Mobility Week is the award ceremony that recognises the best initiatives for sustainable mobility, both in municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants and for smaller ones. Although this year, the European favourites continue to be cities such as Oslo or Amsterdam , for their contribution to improving air quality, in Spain we are not far behind.
Background in Spain

In 2015, the city of Murcia took home the gold, thanks to its ability to facilitate the coexistence of motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. With more than 450,000 inhabitants, the city proposed measures canadian ceo email lists characterised by 'electromobility' and practical solutions to facilitate driving on the road. And to take home the prize, it competed against Palma de Mallorca!

Last year, Madrid was one of the favourites and, according to the 'Living. Moving. Breathing.' report by Greenpeace , the Spanish capital is the sixth European city that is most committed to sustainable mobility. The score was good in road safety and active mobility, average in public transport and below average in air quality management.

But it doesn't end there, Granada and Palma were also finalists, and not so long ago! We are talking about 2018 and 2017, respectively. The Andalusian city did not win the gold by a hair's breadth, as its initiatives included the extension of the metro line, the growth of electric vehicles in its fleet and car sharing . These are concepts that we all know today, but that two years ago were more than pioneering.

For its part, Palma, which lost the gold to Murcia, has not given up and has continued to grow in terms of sustainable mobility. Thanks to initiatives such as the extension of 'bike lanes' and the growth of public services, as well as the creation of integrated tickets for mobility, it was once again a finalist in 2017.

What now? The future of the European Union depends on everyone
Although our last gold medal was 5 years ago, in our country we have not stopped betting on sustainable mobility. At Naturgy, we promote the transformation of vehicle fleets into others, powered by natural gas and electric charging solutions for sustainable companies , in order to achieve the decarbonisation objectives of the European Union.
