Publishers in particular are of course incredibly dependent on the function for editing link messages. Facebook has therefore launched a new tool especially for this group, which makes it possible to edit links on your Facebook page. For this, it is required that you place a piece of Facebook code on the domains (websites) where the articles are placed, so that Facebook can verify that you are the owner of this domain.
Noteworthy: we also found this tool on our own Facebook page , even though we are not a publisher. However, we already had several Facebook functions on our website (such as the Facebook pixel , Page plugin & Comments plugin ). We suspect that this is how we also gained access to this function. But maybe we, as a Facebook agency, were just lucky…
How it works:
Go to 'Publishing Tools' on your Facebook page and look for the 'Link Ownership' heading buy phone number list as in the image below. You then need to place the code snippet in the header of your website(s) and then test under 'Verify' if the implementation was successful. Repeat this for all domains you want to be able to link to. Simple as that !
If you do not see this function, you are probably not eligible. You may be able to apply for this function by contacting Facebook. It is not yet known what the exact conditions are for this.
