Search engine optimization primarily refers to four core areas: strategy, technology, content, and off-page (Fig. 1). It's important to understand that all of these core areas are interrelated: If SEO doesn't work in one area, it will also lead to problems in the others.

Startups should also be aware that online search is a pull channel and is therefore driven by demand. For example, if a highly innovative startup launches a service or product that has never existed before, demand is usually not there yet, and search is not the right channel. For such information-intensive products, push marketing measures such as social media campaigns or ghana phone number data paid advertising via Google Ads are significantly more relevant.

Strategy: Understand your potential customers
Keyword and content strategy usually fall under this category. As already mentioned, it is essential to understand potential customers. Only when these customers are truly understood can their expectations be met. Various, often free, tools (Fig. 2) are useful for determining exactly what the target audience is actually searching for via search engines. Based on these, companies can determine how they can best serve their customers' search queries.
