Huawei Highlights AI's Role in Improving Network Performance

Post by moniya12 »

Huawei Technologies Co highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in creating new opportunities to improve network performance as AI will accelerate the industry's transition to higher levels of network autonomy at the ongoing Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2024.

Yang Chaobin, Board Member and President of Huawei ICT Products and Solutions, said: “ The telecom industry has started to implement 5G-A, while generative AI has made significant breakthroughs. AI, as a foundational technology for network automation, will accelerate the industry’s evolution to a higher level of network autonomy and play a key role in the success of 5G-A business.”

Huawei's plan to bring AI to the network
5G-A stands for advanced 5G technology, which is a major improvement to the 5G network in terms of functionality and coverage. For example, 5G-A has a 10-gigabit peak downlink speed to meet increasingly diverse service requirements.

Yang also noted that generative AI is transforming the production, processing, transmission and exchange of information, creating opportunities for mobile AI and increasing traffic, connections and services. This also means increasing demands for monetization of differentiated services and network automation.

Huawei's upgraded autonomous networking, or ADN, solution now relies on the company's self-developed telecom foundation model to enhance the value of networks in three dimensions: service delivery, network maintenance, and experience, he said.

During MWC Shanghai 2024, Huawei unveiled a plan to bring AI to networks. The plan aims to build an ecosystem of intelligent agents in collaboration with telecom operators to improve network performance. The first phase aims to cover 1,000 engineers and 10,000 sites in six months.
