The Joe Biden and Kamala Harris team has thus released four designs: the official Biden-Harris logo, the “Team Joe” logo, Joe’s special “pride” logo , and the image of the sunglasses that the Democratic candidate usually wears with the party’s colors. Players will be able to download these designs through the QR code that they can find in the Nintendo Switch online application.
Christian Tom , Director of Digital Partnerships for the Biden-Harris campaign, says that Animal Crossing “ is a dynamic, diverse and powerful platform that brings together communities from around the world ,” in response to complaints some users make about mixing politics with video games, the latter being, ultimately, a way to disconnect from the real world.
Since Nintendo launched Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March, the game has become extremely popular. This rise has also been accelerated by the lockdown, during which 22 million downloads of this simulation game were achieved. So the choice of the video game to campaign has not been a coincidence, but a genuine political marketing strategy .
