Advertising turnover in Spain

The Spanish Advertisers Association (AEA ) has shared the data from the VII Advertising Observatory in Spain , an annual study that presents an x-ray of the main economic and structural indicators of the sector. On this occasion, the report reflects the figures for 2020, which has turned out to be an atypical year as a result of the pandemic. Despite registering declines in most indicators, such as the contribution to GDP or turnover, the association highlights the enrichment of the industry's business fabric.
In this sense, and providing data from 2016 to last year, australia number screening the document also focuses on a series of factors of change that affect communication and advertising activity in which new models of relationship, content and technology are emerging. Thus, it highlights the increase in investment in the Digital medium or the evolution in the demand for professional profiles, in which functions linked to artificial intelligence and big data stand out.
The contribution to GDP fell by -0.7% compared to 2019
According to the report, the contribution of the aggregate investment in advertising activity to the Gross Domestic Product of our country stands, according to the latest update of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), at 1.23%, which represents a decrease of -0.7% compared to 1.30% in the previous year.
As regards companies in the sector, INE.DIRCE indicates that in Spain there are 42,791 companies dedicated to advertising , a figure that represents an increase of 5.2% compared to the data for 2019, when 40,859 companies were registered. Specifically, 35% of these organizations have been created in the last year, which is indicative, according to the AEA, of a young, renewed sector with a great capacity for growth and reinvention. Along these lines, the report indicates that in the last ten years, there has been an increase of 42.8% in the creation of companies.
