Why did X (formerly Twitter) block searches for Taylor Swift on the social network?

Post by sakib30 »

The misuse of AI and the poor ability of Elon Musk's platform to filter certain content have had an effect on the artist's image. Searches have been reinstated and we tell you the details of this measure.

Social media platform X has blocked searches for one of the world's most popular personalities, Taylor Swift, after explicit AI images of the singer-songwriter went viral.

Deepfakes have flooded several social media sites, latvia number screening from Reddit to Facebook. This has renewed calls for stronger legislation on AI, particularly when it is misused for sexual harassment. Fortunately for the artist and her Swifties, this situation now seems to have been regularised.

What happened to Taylor Swift searches?
On Wednesday, sexually explicit AI-generated images began circulating on social media sites, particularly gaining traction on X. One image of the megastar was viewed 47 million times during the roughly 17 hours it was live on X before being removed on Thursday.

Deepfake detection group Reality Defender told The Associated Press it tracked dozens of unique images that were shared with millions of people online before being removed.

X has banned Swift searches and queries related to photos, instead displaying an error message. A scenario that once again shows the problem that Elon Musk's platform faces regarding explicit adult content.

Instagram and Threads, while both allow Swift searches, display a warning message when specifically searching for images.
