As part of its 'Made On YouTube' event, the platform presented a series of new capabilities with the aim of giving creators the opportunity to form participatory communities.

This Wednesday, September 18, at the “Made On italy number screening YouTube ” event , the platform presented a series of innovations driven by AI and tools designed to strengthen its community and facilitate new business opportunities. These innovations will allow creators, both new and established, to expand their audiences, boost their income and consolidate YouTube as the ideal space to create, interact and be a fan.

One of the most notable announcements was the integration of Veo , Google DeepMind’s most advanced generative video model, into the Dream Screen feature of YouTube Shorts. Later this year, users will be able to generate creative video backgrounds, and in 2025, they will have the ability to create standalone 6-second clips for Shorts. Today, 70% of channels uploading content to YouTube publish Shorts, and earnings from these videos have grown quarter-over-quarter since the introduction of revenue sharing.

Also introduced was “ Communities ,” a new space within creators’ channels where creators and fans can interact and strengthen their bonds. Initially available to a select group of creators, the feature will be expanded in 2025.

Another new feature is “ Hype ,” a tool that allows fans to support emerging creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers. In addition to liking or sharing, users can now “hype” videos, which will be entered into a weekly leaderboard. In early tests in Turkey, Taiwan and Brazil, users have given more than 5 million hypes across 50,000 unique channels.
