Convenience sampling is a non-probabilistic, non-random sampling technique used to create samples according to ease of access, availability of people to be part of the sample, in a given time interval or any other practical specification of a particular element.

The researcher selects members only based on their proximity and does not consider whether they actually represent a representative sample of the entire population or not. When this technique is used, habits, opinions, and points of view can be observed more easily.

Researchers use sampling techniques in situations where there are large populations to be tested, since in most cases it is nearly impossible to test an entire population.

Convenience sampling is the most commonly used sampling technique because it is extremely fast, simple, inexpensive, and members are usually accessible to be part of the sample.

This technique is used when there are no criteria that must be considered israel phone number a person to be part of the sample. Each element of the population can be a participant and is eligible to be part of the sample. These participants commonly depend on proximity to the researcher.

For example, in a school there are sometimes situations where a teacher selects the first two rows to participate in the competition, this is one kind of example of proximity. Or another example could be when an NGO selects the top 20 cities to serve based on proximity to their base.
