Facebook doesn't have as many gray hairs as it seems and in 2023 it will host more centennials than baby boomers

For some time, the presence of millennials has been extraordinarily negligible on Facebook, with younger people turning their backs on it in favour of alternative (and more youthful) social networks such as TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram. However, Facebook’s age might not be as alarming as it seems at first glance. According to a recent study by eMarketer , by 2023, the millennials on Facebook will outnumber the baby boomers on the other side of the pond.

While Facebook's audience has noticeably aged in nigeria phone number data recent years to exclude younger people, it seems that the gap between new and old generations is narrowing more and more on this social network.

In 2020, 34.7 million baby boomers (people born between 1946 and 1964) used Facebook at least once a month in the United States. This figure, however, fell to just 26.8 million individuals in the case of Generation Z (young people born between 1997 and 2012).

Facebook will rejuvenate significantly in the coming years
A year later, the gap that once separated the two generations on Facebook has narrowed even further (34.4 million baby boomers vs. 28.5 million centennials). And in 2022, the number of users belonging to the two generations on Facebook will become even closer (33.8 million baby boomers vs. 31.5 million centennials).

By 2023, Generation Z (34.7 million) will be more populous on Facebook than baby boomers (33.1 million). And in 2024, centennials (38.1 million) will outnumber baby boomers (32.4 million) even more on this social network.

eMarketer argues in its report that baby boomers are aging and increasingly turning their backs on social media, while Generation Z is more likely to return to Facebook as they get older.
