Generation Z is less present on Facebook than the previous generation – Millennials – which is often why we see studies predicting the death of the social network.

The image or video.

Generation Z has always known the Internet and was born into a world saturated with content. Gen Z has therefore learned to sort and consume information quickly.

This is why they have the highest usage rate on YouTube and Instagram.

89% of Millennials use YouTube at least once a month and 74% use Instagram.

Twitter is out of shape
Twitter is a historic social network, but I must admit that all the studies I consult show that it is not doing well.

Millennials (49%) and Gen Z (48%) are the biggest users of Twitter.

Only 38% of Gen Xers and 27% of Baby Boomers use Twitter every month.

This usage rate is much lower than for other social networks.

the impact of social networks on the act of purchasing
This is the part of the study that will be of most interest to marketers and their General Management.

Social networks have a certain influence on your customers' purchasing decisions even if they do not have a direct impact on the purchase itself.

Millennials (62%) and Generation Z (64%) use social media to research a indonesia email list product ahead of Generation X (47%) and Baby Boomers (31%).

Social media is also a good way to interact with a brand.

In fact, 65% of Millennials have already interacted with a brand on social networks. This is also the case for 60% of Generation Z, 57% of Generation X and 43% of Baby Boomers.

Important point!

Social media has surpassed search engines in finding information related to purchasing considerations among Generation Z.

48% of Generation Z use social media to find out about a brand or product, compared to 47% for search engines.

What future for social networks?
the future of social media usage
Social media behaviors and usage change from month to month.

We can see that the use of social networks is less and less dependent on our circle of friends.

While in 2015, 37% indicated that they used social networks because their friends used them, today the figure is only 31%.

In 2015, 44% of users said they used social networks to stay in touch with their friends, compared to 40% today.

Social networks are more often used to follow celebrity news (+27% in 3 years) and search for products to buy (+30%).
