Google has been comfortably enthroned on the search throne for decades, but the furious entry of AI on the scene inevitably threatens its reign, which until recently was absolutely undisputed. And to make matters worse, OpenAI will apparently announce next Monday a new AI-powered search engine that is born with the ultimate goal of putting Google's search engine in trouble , according to Reuters .
This is the first time that a date has been set for the eventual public presentation of the Google rival that OpenAI is planning to launch , as reported by Bloomberg and The Information a couple of days ago.
If the debut of OpenAI 's new search-oriented product does indeed take place this Monday, its belize whatsapp list presentation would take place just one day before Google's annual I/O conference , where the Mountain View company is expected to raise the curtain on a lush bouquet of products focused on AI.
OpenAI's new search-focused product would be an extension of the company's famed ChatGPT, led by Sam Altman , and would allow the popular chatbot to pull information directly from the web and include citations, Bloomberg reported .
OpenAI also seeks to put Perplexity in trouble
Since it was released in November 2022, ChatGPT has been seen by many as an alternative to traditional search engines for compiling online information , although until recently it has had to contend with the obstacle of not being able to feed on real-time data on the network of networks.
Beyond tripping up Google’s search engine, OpenAI’s new product would also attack Perplexity , a startup founded by a former OpenAI employee and currently valued at $1 billion that has gained popularity in recent months thanks to a native AI search interface that displays quotes, images, and text in the results provided to the user. Perplexity is said to have around 10 million active monthly users, as the company reported last January.
ChatGPT once became the fastest app to reach 100 million monthly active users. However, ChatGPT's web traffic has been a rollercoaster ride over the past year and is only now approaching the peak levels it achieved in May 2023, according to Similarweb.
