Everyone fails sometimes, but what distinguishes the people you want to hire from the ones you don't is how they handle failure. Did they forget a decimal and cost the company a huge amount of money? Did they own up to it right away or cover it up? Did they do something to fix it? Did they learn anything from it?

But they should have their own questions. Interviewing, after all, is a two-way street. The right candidate will be looking for a good job, not just a new job. You should be prepared and receptive to questions about what the job they're applying for entails and what it's like to work with you or at your establishment.
