The increasingly ubiquitous AI-generated models boast an absolutely ravishing beauty that borders on perfection (because synthetic nature allows it). And from now on, they will also be able to add the crown of (artificial) beauty queens to their resume. That crown will be awarded to them by what boasts of being the first beauty pageant to focus on AI-generated models and influencers: Miss AI .
The competition will not only evaluate the models based on their beauty and appearance, but also on the technical complexity involved in their creation . Their popularity on social media will also be taken into consideration.
According to the organizers of Miss AI , the jury of the pageant will carefully examine the contestants' engagement on social networks, their growth rate on these platforms and their use of Instagram and other channels.
Miss AI aims to be the first of several competitions (the World AI Creator Awards) that will be dedicated to the increasingly popular virtual influencers . This first competition will be followed by more contests focused on fashion, diversity and virtual male models.
The contest was created in collaboration with Fanvue , a subscription-based platform that hosts virtual models (some of which focus on adult content).
"We intend for the World AI Creator Awards (WAICA) to become the Oscars of the 'creator economy' emanating from AI," explains Will Monanage, co-founder of Fanvue.
Miss AI will offer the winner a cash prize of $5,000, free promotion on Fanvue and PR actions valued at over $5,000. The contestants who placed second and third respectively will also be treated to prizes.
The winners of this unique competition will be announced on May 10, and at the end of that same month an online ceremony will take place to present the awards to the winners.
AI-generated models Aitana Lopez and Emily Pelligrini will be part of the Miss AI jury
The Miss AI jury is made up of two virtual influencers (because they are perhaps the most versed in the qualities that are assumed of artificial beauty) and two flesh-and-blood people . The two AI-generated models who are part of the Miss AI jury are the Spanish Aitana Lopez , who pockets up to $11,000 a month as an ambassador for different brands and has more than 300,000 followers on Instagram, and Emily Pelligrini, who has more than 250,000 followers on Instagram and has been courted in recent months by sports stars and billionaires.
The two human members of the AI jury are entrepreneur and PR consultant Andrew Bloch , and Sally-Ann Fawcett , a beauty pageant historian and author of the book Misdemeanours: Beauty Queen Scandals .
“My learning curve has accelerated tremendously by expanding my knowledge into AI-generated models and it’s absolutely incredible what’s possible in this field of activity,” says Fawcett.
Contestants in Miss AI, whose organizers expect thousands of entries, must have been 100% generated by AI , although there are no restrictions regarding the tools involved in their creation.
Beauty pageants have come under fire on multiple occasions for promoting unrealistic beauty standards, and the truth is that AI-generated models also draw on the same clichés and promote rather restrictive beauty ideals . Both Aitana L cambodia whatsapp data opez and Emily Pelligrini , members of the Miss AI jury, are, after all, young women with juicy, radiant skin, high cheekbones, full lips, generous breasts, and bodies that suggest they have a personal trainer at their service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Fawcett is, however, expecting a diverse field of contestants for Miss AI. “It’s not about awarding the best looking models,” the jury member told Forbes . “Influencers have the opportunity to change the public’s perception of AI-generated models and I hope the contest will produce a winner who is truly in tune with the real world,” she says.
A spokesperson for the pageant also insists that Miss AI is not trying to encourage beauty in its most stereotypical form . "It is about rewarding creative artistic talent and the beauty of the creators' work," he asserts.
However, it seems that AI-generated models only amplify many of the (often extremely harmful) stereotypes surrounding beauty. This is the conclusion of the report “Human Beauty according to Artificial Intelligence” , which was published last year and denounced the risk that AI will only perpetuate beauty standards that are as pernicious as they are unrealistic.
